Bowzers Rock and Roll Party at Mohegan Sun Arena

Jon Bauman, a.k.a. Bowzer, is a sensational music and TV personality that emerged in the ‘80s as a “greaser.” He has created a signature look and pose, donned in a black muscle shirt and sleeked back hair. He was a member of the rock and roll do-woop group called Sha Na Na. The band emerged in 1969. Together with Sha Na Na, Bowzer released ten studio and live albums. The band, through connections with their friend Jimi Hendrix, was able to score a slot at the 1969 Woodstock Festival, where they performed before Hendrix’s set. After completing the song, “At The Hop, " the band received a standing ovation.”

Sha Na Na later hosted their own series with the same name from 1977 to 1981. The syndicated series became a staple on American television and was eventually available in over 32 countries. It was from this gig that Bowzer developed his hosting prowess, often being a dominant character in the show. He later became a professional game show host after departing Sha Na Na in 1983. Bowzer has hosted NBC’s Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour and Pop ‘N’ Rocker Game and co-hosted a radio show, L.A. In the Morning. Bowzer has also served as a VJ in VH1 and hosted the LBS series “The Story of Rock ‘N Roll.” Bowzer later produced, wrote, and hosted the Bowzer Rock ‘N Roll Party, a two-hour special aired in over 120 countries.
