The team Connecticut Sun is based in  Uncasville, Connecticut, and is owned by the  Mohegan Indian Tribe.  The Sun takes pride that they are the only team (apart from the defunct Miami Sol) to have less than 20 losses in a season.  The Sun has had notable set of distinguished players –the late 7-foot-2 Margo Dydek, Indiana native Katie Douglas, veteran sharpshooter Kara Lawson, University of Connecticut icons Asjha Jones and Nykesha Sales, 2008 MVP runner-up point guard Lindsay Whalen and 2012 MVP recipient Tina Charles.

The Chicago Sky is based in  Rosemont, Illinois, and owned by Michael J. Alter (principal owner) and Margaret Stender (minority owner).  The Sky are some of the very few teams that distinguish themselves as independent of any affiliation with an NBA counterpart.
