Will the sun shine brightest on the side of the Connecticut Suns?  Or will the sparks of victory illuminate the territory of the Los Angeles Sparks?  This is definitely a monumental game for the Sparks as they return to Uncasville, Connecticut at the Mohegan Sun Arena, 10 years after the battle of 2003, where they played against the Connecticut Suns, who were then on their inaugural season.  Be part of another milestone game of the Suns vs. the Sparks on August 6, 2013, 7:00 pm at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

 

 

The team Connecticut Sun is based in  Uncasville, Connecticut, and is owned by the  Mohegan Indian Tribe.  The Sun takes pride that they are the only team (apart from the defunct Miami Sol) to have less than 20 losses in a season.  The Sun has had notable set of distinguished players –the late 7-foot-2 Margo Dydek, Indiana native Katie Douglas, veteran sharpshooter Kara Lawson, University of Connecticut icons Asjha Jones and Nykesha Sales, 2008 MVP runner-up point guard Lindsay Whalen and 2012 MVP recipient Tina Charles.

Los Angeles prides itself with the Los Angeles Sparks — who had been playing with the Western Conference in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) since 1997.   The LA Sparks have qualified for the WNBA Playoffs eleven times, out of their fourteen year stint.    Their prominent alumna of players include 6 foot 5 inch center Tennessee standout Candace Parker, flashy point guard Nikki Teasley and nearby USC product Tina Thompson.  For three years in a row — from 2001 to 2003, the Sparks went to the NBA finals, and won back-to-back titles in 2001 and 2002.
