"Lighting Up The Sky," Godsmack's latest album, will be released on February 24. "Surrender," the first single from "Lighting Up The Sky," was released in September, marking Godsmack's first release in four years, following their globally acclaimed and gold-certified 2018 album "When Legends Rise," which earned the Sully Erna-fronted outfit a No. 1 spot on the US Hard Rock, Rock, and Alternative album charts. Erna recently stated in an interview that "Lighting Up The Sky" will most likely be Godsmack's final collection of original songs. He explained: "It's the most important record, I think, we've ever written and recorded. Instead of releasing new music in the years to come, Erna has said, Godsmack could continue to perform, playing signature songs and greatest hits.

Godsmack is a 1995 American rock band from Lawrence, Massachusetts. Since its formation, they have released seven studio albums, one EP (The Other Side), four DVDs, one compilation album (Good Times, Bad Times… Ten Years of Godsmack), and one live CD (Live & Inspired). The band has three consecutive Billboard 200 number-one albums (Faceless, IV, and The Oracle), as well as 25 top 10 rock radio singles, including 18 top five successes.

Sully said that the decision to stop releasing new albums was influenced by the fact that too many people these days don't care about new music from bands who have been around as long as they have.
