The critically-acclaimed band Great White emerged in 1977 from Los Angeles. They rose to prominence during the mid-'80s and released the platinum-certified record, Once Bitten and the double platinum effort … Twice Shy. During this period, Great White spawned several iconic hits, such as "Once Bitten, Twice Shy," "House of Broken Love," and “Rock Me.” By the early ‘90s, Great White also produced several chart-performing studio efforts, such as Hooked, Psycho City, and Sail Away. The band dominated the radiowaves with hits “Desert Moon,” “Big Goodbye,” and “Sail Away.” In 2017, the band dropped their latest album, Full Circle, through the independent label Bluez Gone.

Christian metal band Stryper also rose to prominence during the ‘80s. The band released their breakthrough debut album, The Yellow and Black Attack in 1984. The record entered the Billboard 200 chart and peaked at number 10 on the Top Christian Albums. By the mid to late ‘80s, Stryper dropped their career-defining works, Soldiers UnderCommandd, To Hell with the Devil and In God We Trust. These studio efforts entered the Christian chart’s top 5 and were certified gold and platinum. The band, which leaned more on glam metal music, has been known for their highly visual performances and twin guitar solos. The band’s singer, Michael Sweet, is renowned for his multi-octave vocals and remarkably big hair.
