Howard Michael Mandel is a renowned multi-award winning Canadian comedian and television personality. He has also worked as a screenwriter, actor, producer, director, and entrepreneur. The American version of the game show Deal or No Deal and the daytime and Canadian-English versions were all hosted by him on CNBC (formerly NBC). Mandel voiced the pop culture character Gizmo in the 1984 film Gremlins and the 1990 sequel Gremlins 2: The New Batch.  Mandel appeared in the comedy film Walk Like a Man with Amy Steel in 1987.  Mandel starred in the NBC hospital drama St. Elsewhere from 1982 to 1988 as rambunctious intern Dr Wayne Fiscus. He also created, voiced, and starred in the FOX children's cartoon Bobby's World and has been a judge on NBC's America's Got Talent since 2010.
Mandel is well-known as a comedian who frequently appears on late-night talk shows like The Tonight Show, Starring Jay Leno. As their paid spokesperson, he's appeared in a slew of Boston Pizza advertisements. According to the Comedy Central website, he was named the 82nd greatest stand-up comedian of all time in a poll conducted in April 2004. Deal or No Deal: USA premiered on NBC on December 19, 2005, quickly became a popular show in early 2006. He was selected host in October 2005. To make him one of the few game show hosts (along with Anne Robinson of Weakest Link, John McEnroe of The Chair, Donny Osmond of Pyramid, Joey Fatone from The Singing Bee, and Darren McMullen of Minute to Win It) to host a domestic and an international version of the same game show, Mandel also hosts Deal or No Deal Canada. Deal or No Deal Canada debuted on Global in January 2007.
