Jeff Dunham’s act has been revered by many comedy fans. His standup show includes puppet characters with larger-than-life, not to mention rude personalities. The most well-known character is Achmed The Dead Terrorist, a skeleton puppet who is politically incorrect. Dunham controls the puppet via ventriloquism. Hence, he has been credited for reviving ventriloquism by the Los Angeles Times in 2009.

He performed for small audiences in schools, churches, and theme parks during his teen years. Dunham, who consistently became better in his craft, began booking banquet gigs, which a local news reporter later discovered and interviewed him for a news program. Dunham got his first break when he booked commercial gigs. Dunham would book around 100 shows a year during his college years and travel across the country for private gigs.

After college, Dunham would get regular gigs in local standup comedy clubs to hone his skills and improve his material. By the mid-'90s, he has appeared on The Tonight Show, Ellen, and Hot Country Nights. In 2003, Dunham appeared in Comedy Central specials and showcased some characters, such as Walter, Jose Jalapeno, Stick, Melvin the Superhero Guy, and Peanut.

Dunham had released more than ten comedy specials, the first being Jeff Dunham: Arguing with Myself, which garnered around two million views when it was aired on Comedy Central. Today, he is the third highest-paid comedian after Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock. He currently holds the Guinness World Record for most tickets sold for a standup comedy tour for his Spark of Insanity tour.
