American singer, actor, record producer and television producer Marc Anthony first began in music in the 1980s, as a session singer for freestyle and house music acts, and then later as a backing vocalist and songwriter for acts including the Latin Rascals and Menudo. In the early 1990s, Anthony began to collaborate with more acts, including music producer and DJ Little Louie Vega, with whom he opened for Latin bandleader Tito Puente at Madison Square Garden in 1992. Signed to RRM Records, Anthony made his Spanish-language debut in 1993 with the album Otra Nota. His 1995 follow-up, Todo a Su Tiempo, was nominated for a Grammy Award and won him a Billboard award for Hot Tropical Artist of the Year. His third studio album, Contra La Corriente, gave him a number-one hit on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart (the first by a salsa musician), and became the first salsa album to enter the Billboard 200, firmly establishing Anthony as the top-selling singer in the history of tropical salsa. Throughout his career, Anthony has a 25 hits on the Billboard chart. He is a two-time Grammy and five-time Latin Grammy Award-winner and has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. He has recorded eleven studio albums to date.
