New Kids on the Block found fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and are one of the best-selling bands of all time, having sold over 80 million albums worldwide. Often cited as the “original boy band”, New Kid's on the Block's 1988 album Hangin' Tough spawned a string of 5 top 10 hit singles, captivating the hearts of teenage girls everywhere. Their polished, radio friendly R&B-tinged pop and highly choreographed performances brought them huge success, with the boys reputedly earning over 1 million dollars per week in their heyday. Having disbanded in 1994, New Kids on the Block unexpectedly released album The Block in 2008, to delight of their many fans, amd have been touring again ever since.

Formed in 1992 by Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, TLC fused the worlds of hiphop, R&B, soul and pop to become the second biggest girl group ever and the best-selling American girl group of all time, with over 70 million records sold. Their 1994 album CrazySexyCool has sold over 23 million copies worldwide, and was the first album by a girl band to be certified diamond by the RIAA, reaching 11x platinum status. Recognised throughout the music industry, TLC have won 5 Grammy Awards, 5 MTV Awards and 5 Soul Train Music Awards. Tragedy struck the band in 2002 when Lopez, the rapper of the band, died suddenly in an automobile accident. In subsequent years, the remaining members have re-emerged in the public eye and it was announced in January 2015 that they will be releasing a new album.
