Long before geeks ruled the world,  Rush has already perfected their formula for world domination: progressive heavy metal + science fiction.  They concocted a lethal synthesis of sounds that had mind-blowing and adrenaline-pumping effects which attracted a multitude of rock fans.  Forty five years has almost passed, yet fans area still heady and high, and enjoying the rush, so to speak.  This Canadian rock band’s current member line-up is composed of bassist, keyboardist, and lead vocalist Geddy Lee, guitarist and backing vocalist Alex Lifeson, and drummer, percussionist and lyricist Neil Peart.  This has been the solid and stable line-up since 1974.

Rush has coveted the most prestigious music awards in Canada, which includes numerous Juno Awards, countless magazine polls, and they’ve been inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1974.  On the international music front, Rush has sold over 25 million albums in the US alone, and ranks number 79 in the most number of albums sold in the US.  Their total worldwide album sales is calculated at 40 million units, with 24 gold records and 14 platinum (3 multi-platinum) records.  With these music sales statistics, they rank third behind The Beatles and The Rolling Stones for the most number of consecutive gold and platinum studio albums released  by a rock band.

Rush’s music is classified as progressive rock, and true to form, their sound has progressed many times over, over the years.  Though their style remained essentially at the core of hard rock, they have a knack of merging with sounds of the times.  In the 80s, they were heavily influenced by the dark and brooding new wave sound, along with the futuristic wave of electronica and heavy use of synths and electronic percussions.  In the 90s, they easily blended with the burgeoning alternative indie movement, while the new millenium brought them back to their rock and roll and roots sound.

Touring has always been the blood life of Rush.  The spectacle of sights and sounds is what makes the Rush experience run in full circle.  Indeed, the clock is ticking… You feel the gush of excitement…you feel the music rush and is bound to explode.  Don’t wait ’til the last minute; beat the rush, buy your tickets now!
