Mohegan Sun Arena | Montville, Connecticut
Two of the biggest and best names of the 90s are back! Smashing Pumpkins and Jane's Addiction are heading out on the Spirits on Fire Tour at Mohegan Sun Arena on Thursday, October 13th 2022 with very special guest Poppy. Grab your tickets here for a wildly eclectic night of Synth-rock from Smashing Pumpkins, Folk-rock from Janes Addiction, and Pop-rock from Poppy! Smashing Pumpkins will mostly be playing from their latest album, Cyr, but you can also expect a few hits from any of the previous 10 albums, as well as some brand-new songs from the unreleased, and untitled, upcoming album.
"We wanted to do a 'Mellon Collie' anniversary tour," Billy Corgan admitted during an interview, "right around the time the pandemic was kicking in, so all that got pushed aside. Then we put out the 'Cyr' album… in the middle of the pandemic, so you can't really play shows, you can't do anything fun like you normally would do. Then we went back and did another record — which is the album that's still coming out yet — a 33-song concept record."
"We just kind of cross our fingers and hope everything lines up and keeps working," Billy says of the band's future plans. "But in a weird way, and I don't mean to be doom saying, I think we sort of think, 'let's just be in this moment.' The tour's five months away with Jane's… let's just cross our fingers and really think positive here, because I want to be standing at the Hollywood Bowl with Perry looking out at all those beautiful faces."
The Smashing Pumpkins formed way back in 1988 in Chicago, they currently are lead singer and guitarist Billy Corgan, drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, guitarist James Iha and guitarist Jeff Schroeder, as well as live touring members, bassist Jack Bates and keyboardist Katie Cole. The band made worldwide mainstream with their double album, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, from 1995, debuting at number 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Their latest and eleventh studio album, Cyr, came out in November 2020 and charting at number 86 on the Billboard 200 and number 10 on the Top Rock Albums Chart.
