Gordon Matthew Thomas Summer ir better known for his stage name, Sting is undoubtedly one of the few artists who has created musical masterworks that has outlived the test of changing trends in genres and the transforming music preferences  of different generations. His songs are indeed timeless. Before venturing on solo career, Sting was the lead singer and bassist of the rock band that has entranced the hearts of many, The Police. In 1985, his first solo album was released, “The Dream of the Blue Turtles” which went number 2 and reached triple platinum after just a year. It included the hit singles “If You Love Somebody Set Them Free”, “Fortress Around Your Heart” and “Russians”. The album was also nominated for Grammy’s Album of the Year. Sting has proven that there is beauty in loneliness when he released his 1991 album, “The Soul Cages” which was inspired by his father’s death. The album peaked at number 2 with the hit single “All This Time” which went on number 5. His classic songs also include “Every Breath You Take”, “Desert Rose”, “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” and “Roxanne”. Sting was hailed as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by the Time magazine in 2011.
