God will definitely put a smile on your face for this one — Coldplay is coming to you, live!  One of Britain’s biggest alternative bands, Coldplay, are on the road for Mylo Xyloto tour, and they’re making a stop over here at Uncasville, Connecticut for a live concert at the Mohegan Sun Arena on the 29th of December 2012.  Check your clocks, make sure you’re at the gate at 7:00 pm sharp.

 

Is it rock? Is it pop? Is it mellow?  You can’t quite put a pin down on Coldplay’s distinct sound.  Some call it ‘meditative’ or ‘blue romantic’.  Chris Martin, Coldplay’s frontman and chief songwriter, once proclaimed the band’s music as “limestone rock” — for lack of a better description for their brand of rock music that not too hard, not too soft, or not too rough and not too smooth either.  With their breakthrough single “Yellow” (from the album “Parachutes”), released in the year 2000, Coldplay dominated in the UK and Europe.  But it was quite a different story in America and the rest of the world. Though it was a slow burn release, their debut album eventually reached double platinum status nevertheless.    Since then, there was no stopping Coldplay.   X&Y (2004–06) became the best-selling album of 2005 with worldwide sales of 8.3 million, with monster hits such as “Speed Of Sound” and “Fix You”.   Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2006–09),  lorded over the airwaves with the single “Viva La Vida”  and zoomed up the charts, making it the band’s first number one album on the BillboardHot 100, and their first UK number one, based on download sales alone.  Their current album Mylo Xyloto (2009–2012), is riding high with the singles “Paradise” and “Princess of China” featuring Rihanna.  As of last counting,  Coldplay has sold over 55 million records.
